Rich was born and rasied in Dublin and studied documentary photography (originally set up by one of the founding members of Magnum photos) at the University of Newport in South Wales from 2001-2004.
After that he went to London for a year, working as assistant then relocated back to Dublin in 2006.
Since then he has set up working as a freelance photographer in Dublin, producing both commercial work (with a mix of advertising, editorial magazine work and skateboarding) and his own documentary projects.
Rich has also set up Irelands first skateboard magazine, 'The Wizard'.
His first photo was published in the gallery of Slap Skateboarding Magazine in 2001 and since then he has had work in Thrasher, Slam Australia, Lodown Berlin, Document, Sidewalk, Kingpin Europe and Transworld as well as the esteemed Ei8ht Photojournalism Magazine.
